A turbocharger is one of the most expensive parts on a generator engine, and the right one depends on the exact engine model, not just the series. This guide shows how to identify your engine and lists the Kubota, John Deere, Perkins and Cummins turbochargers we stock, matched by engine model.
Signs your turbocharger needs attention
Look for loss of power under load, black or blue smoke from the exhaust, a high-pitched whining or siren-like noise, oil around the turbocharger or in the air intake pipe, or shaft play when the turbocharger is checked by a technician. If you notice any of these, have the turbocharger inspected before running the engine under load.
Step 1: Find your exact engine model
The engine model is printed on the engine nameplate or tag, usually on the cylinder block. Do not order by series alone (for example “6068” or “1106”): different models in the same series can use different turbochargers. Match the full model with the “Engine Compatibility” and the “Fits” line on each product page.

Step 3: Replace the gasket and check the oil system
Fit a new gasket whenever you change a turbocharger. We stock Kubota turbocharger gaskets: Kubota 16483-17100 Gasket Turbocharger, Kubota 1J550-17100 Gasket Turbocharger. Before fitting, check the oil feed and drain lines for blockages, and use fresh oil and filter, because contaminated oil is a common cause of early turbocharger failure.
